Jessica and Mauricio are such a fabulous couple and were amazing to photograph. This February engagement session was beautiful at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Downtown Jacksonville. The flowers were blooming, weather was perfect, and everyone was all smiles for this special day!
Something I love about this location is the versatility of scenery. The Cummer Museum of Arts and Gardens has lush florals and greenery with winding paths and sweeping trees, while also featuring some red brick areas, stone statues, and white pillars.
Additionally, the museum is located in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville, which appeals to couples looking for an urban setting with charming vintage clocks, classy storefronts, and city skyline views. I absolutely adore where I live and all of the awesome locations it has to offer!
So, how did these two meet? Well, like many couples today, Jessica and Mauricio met through a dating app called “Plenty of Fish” back in 2015. They actually figured out that they had mutual friends, who eventually vouched for them to get together with reassurance that both Jessica and Mauricio were wonderful people. They were right!
One of my favorite stories this couple shared with me was about the first time they ever met in person. They met up at a local Starbucks, ordered two glasses of Pinot Noir, and stayed there talking until they kicked them out. Pinot Noir at Starbucks?! My kind of people!
These photos remind me of a whimsical garden romance…so innocent and beautiful, and you can feel the love pouring out of them for each other. Something I love about this couple is how big and genuine their smiles were. Jessica looks so happy!
These personality photos are to die for. Jessica and Mauricio in their natural element, being sweet and gentle to one another. I am so glad I got to get this nose “boop” on camera!
Jessica and Mauricio had been talking about marriage for a long while throughout their time as boyfriend and girlfriend. Ultimately, the couple decided they wanted to buy their first house before they got engaged, so in early 2020 they purchased their first home together. By May of 2020, these two were picking out an engagement ring.
Now it was up to Mauricio to successfully surprise Jessica with a proposal. She knew it was coming, but she just didn’t know when! This led to Mauricio finally asking her father for permission to marry Jessica on Thanksgiving Day in 2020, which is where her father suggested he surprises not one, but two people. Jessica’s mom!
With the help of Mauricio’s sister and Jessica’s best friend, Mauricio planned the most fantastic surprise engagement. Jessica was under the impression that she was going to a fun get together with family and friends at a local park. Instead, it ended up being an engagement party for her!
As the group was taking a big family photo, Mauricio got down on one knee and proposed to Jessica. She was in complete shock and disbelief at what was happening in that very moment – but of course she said yes! What a sweet proposal idea in front of everyone they love most!
I was more than happy to incorporate pictures of Jessica, Mauricio, and their little fur baby into the engagement session. The sign is so adorable, and their puppy even has a coordinating bandana and leash for the session! How cute is that?
The second location for Jessica and Mauricio emulates drama, sophistication, and class. These two dressed the part for a sultry, romantic session in Downtown!
I love the urban feel for Jessica and Mauricio’s session because they both love to travel and see the world together. In fact, one of their first trips together was a vacation to New York. Hopefully the downtown scenery reminds them of that sweet trip!
Mauricio actually works for a cruise line, which means this couple are seasoned jet-setters. They love to cruise around the world and travel to new places together. What an awesome past time activity to have!
Another hobby these two have is collecting Pokémon cards. They both started collecting from a very young age, and have now curated amazing collections in their adulthood!
One of my absolute favorite things for an engagement session is a champagne spray! Jessica’s ring looks gorgeous on top of the cork in the golden light. Her solitaire diamond paired with the eternity band is such a beautiful combination.
The city skyline views and champagne spray make for such a gorgeous picture! Jessica and Mauricio looks so cute and happy; I love seeing my couple’s goofy side.
Jessica and Mauricio did a great job styling for this shoot. The dark teal and neutral ivory colors coordinate with the glass bottle and shimmering gold of the champagne.
I also had to get some close-up shots with the groom-to-be! These contemplative skyline portraits are to die for.
Capturing Jessica and Mauricio’s love for each other was so easy! These two make their romance look so effortless. And how about that close-up shot of the ring? That diamond is the center of attention for engagement shoots like these!
These two had no problems showcasing their personalities while on location for our session. Miami Dolphins fans are no joke! I loved capturing these shots of Jessica and Mauricio in their natural element: throwing the football and sharing laughs together!
Engagement sessions don’t always have to be serious. Displaying a little bit of personality or bringing in a piece of home into the shoot makes for some great photographs. I am so glad I got to capture Jessica and Mauricio’s team spirit!
Look how much fun these two were having! I am so happy to get those genuine laughs!
Capturing these two was such a fun, enjoyable experience, and I cannot wait to photograph their beautiful wedding day. The countdown to May 21st starts now!
